OTHER SERVICESTOTAL MOTION RELEASE (TMR)Total Motion Release (TMR) is a new approach offered at Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab of Hastings for therapy treatments. TMR is a very efficient form of treatment that usually does not exceed 8-10 visits. TMR can be used for pain relief, restrictions in range of motion, balance disorders and improvement in performance. The general goal is to re-balance the body quickly with long lasting results that the patient will learn and be able to use for years to come. The TMR approach is not like any exercise program you have used in the past. You will exercise the "good side" and not exercise into pain. Once the body has been re-trained or re-balance, you will have enough knowledge and understanding to continue to solve problems in the future. To learn more about this approach, give us a call at (402) 462-8824 or go to www.totalmotionrelease.com. AQUATIC THERAPYPTSR offers aquatic physical therapy on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00pm to 3:00pm in cooperation with the Hastings Family YMCA. Scheduling is coordinated by the front desk at PTSR with sessions taking place at the 16th street YMCA location. Rather than a group or class setting, clients are able to schedule appointments between the hours of 12:00pm and 2:00pm and receive an aquatic program tailored to their specific needs. Sessions typically last 45-60 minutes and are under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Therapy is performed according to the comfort level of the patient, maintaining a safe and friendly environment. The water decreases the stress of weight bearing on the spine and joints. Clients are immediately able to stand longer, walk further and perform more exercises all with signifiantly less pain. There are no added costs to attend the aquatic physical therapy program at the YMCA. Simply informe the front desk staff at the YMCA that you are checking in for physical therapy and they will assist you in finding the locker room and pool if you have any questions. PEDIATRIC SERVICES - HASTINGS PUBLIC SCHOOLS
PTSR provides physical therapy services for Hastings Public School. The purpose of physical therapy in the school system is to provide equal opportunities by promoting increasing independence while providing the least restrictive and most supportive environment. The goal of physical therapy for preschool age children is to assist the child in gross motor development and mobility. The PT may facilitate play and positions for play as well as help parents with the use of braces, equipment, and assistive devices as needed to improve the child's mobility. Children eligible for services are between the ages of 0 and 21 and live within the Hastings Public School district. Referrals may be made to the school district by concerned patients, family members, teachers, etc. Parents will always have to sign a permission to test before any services take place. Sessions may take place in the public elementary schools, middle school and high school as well as homes and daycares for younger children. A few conditions that may warrant PT services would be cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Down's Syndrome, prematurity, developmental delay and any other conditions affecting mobility or development. ATHLETIC EVENT COVERAGESince our inception, PTSR therapists actively worked with our local teams for injury prevention and assistance. We cover all football games and home volleyball, softball, basketball, wrestling, swimming, track and soccer games. In addition, Hastings High is covered daily while Adams Central and St. Cecilia are covered a minimum of 2 days each week after school. These services are provided on a voluntary basis. To cover these schools, we work with our local physicians from Hastings Orthopedics', Central Nebraska Orthopedics and the Family Medical Center.. Coaches may refer injured athletes to PTSR during regular hours or on Saturday mornings for a free assessment.
SPORTS CLINICPTSR offers a free injury screening for athletes. The official Sports Clinic, dedicated solely to athletes, operates Saturday morning from 8 to 10 a.m. during the fall & winter sports season. Injured student athletes may also be seen by one of our therapists during our normal work hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. We work the athletes into our regular patient schedule. In addition to the injury assessment, the athlete will receive injury management instructions free of charge. If the case requires further care or diagnostics, we are happy to contact the student's physician. This often expedites the injury management. We work closely with our physicians to provide prompt, up to date services for all our athletes. Referrals are generally made by coaches but services are available to all injured students. | ||||
