Functional Dry Needling
Functional Dry Needling is a skilled intervention performed by a PT. It is used in the management of musculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. Functional Dry Needling uses a fine, “wire-like” needle to penetrate and stimulate Trigger Points, muscular, and connective tissues. Trigger Points are taut bands of muscle, tender to touch; may radiate pain to other parts of the body when pressed on. There is no use of medication or injection. The muscles contract and release, improving muscle flexibility, decreasing the source of irritation, and promotes healing. This allows Physical Therapists to access underlying tissues and trigger points.

This is a short list of conditions commonly treated with FDN. Consult with your PT regarding FDN treatment of other conditions.
